The community is located in the government district of Swabia in the Upper Allgäu district. The population is 1410 people. It occupies an area of 34.96 km ².The community is divided into 7 rural districts.
Schliersee
Schliersee is a small town (Markt) and a municipality in the district of Miesbach in Bavaria in Germany. It is named after the nearby Lake Schliersee. It comprises the districts Schliersee (town), Westenhofen (de), Neuhaus (de), Fischhausen (de), Josefsthal and Spitzingsee.
Among the points of interest in Schliersee, a climatic health resort, is the St Sixtus church with a Holy Trinity group by Erasmus Grasser and wall and ceiling frescoes by Johann Baptist Zimmermann. The excellent quality of the water in the Schliersee is due in large part to the construction of a system for purifying waste water from the area surrounding the lake, which was supported by the state of Bavaria with large subsidies and low-interest loans.
Allgäu
Allgäu (German Allgäu) is a region in southern Germany with developed tourism. It covers the south of the Bavarian Swabia and the south-east of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The region stretches from the pre-Alpine lands to the Alps. The main rivers flowing through Allgäu: Iller and Lech. The area is remarkable for its beautiful scenery and is popular as a holiday destination. In Germany, it is well known for farm products, especially dairy products, including Hirtenkäse (cow's milk cheese). Alpine parts of Allegoy are at an altitude of 2000 meters and are popular as ski resorts. Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the eastern part of the region.
Rhineland-Palatinate
Rhineland-Palatinate (German: Rheinland-Pfalz, pronounced) is one of the 16 states of the Federal Republic of Germany. It has an area of 19,846 square kilometres (7,663 sq mi) and about four million inhabitants. Its state capital and largest city is Mainz.
Rhineland-Palatinate is located in western Germany and was formed after World War II by the French military government from parts of regions that were historically separate. The state, however, has since developed its own identity, built on its natural and cultural heritage of extensive winegrowing as well as its picturesque landscapes and many castles.
