THE AREA
Newport is home to the Oregon Coast Aquarium with its indoor and outdoor displays featuring seals, sea otters, tide pools, shellfish and seabirds. Opened the summer of 2000 the newest Aquarium exhibit is where you'll walk beneath sea creatures! The town's historic Bayfront offers seafood markets, great shopping, art galleries, wonderful dining (including some of the best omelets you'll ever taste!) You will find museums, bay and whale watching cruises and you can even admire and photograph the famous Wyland Whaling Walls! Newport is also home to two lighthouses and wide, uncrowded beaches including Agate Beach, Nye Beach and Yaquina Bay. You can enjoy fishing, whale watching and exploring the tidepools of the Yaquina Head Natural Area and Interpretive Center. If golf is your game, you'll find it in Newport, Lincoln City, Toledo, and Gleneden Beach. Most of us visit the coast to eat fresh seafood. Visit the Oyster Farm or any number of fish markets and taste the freshest seafood around!
