Visit the Fort Raleigh National Historic Park, site of the first English settlement in the New World, Sir Walter Raleigh's ''lost colony'', whose disappearance is a mystery to this day. Climb the historic Hatteras and Currituck lighthouses for a panoramic view of the islands, sounds, and sea. Explore the miles of undisturbed islands and beaches of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Tour the museum at the Wright Brothers National Monument, site of the world's first powered aircraft flight. Climb the tallest sand dune on the US east coast at Jockey's Ridge State Park and learn to hang-glide from itssummit. From the airport take I-64 east, Route 168 South, and Route 158 south, following signs to Kittihawk. The resort is at Mile Post 16 1/4, on the left side of the road.
