THE AREA

The resort SchloЯ Grubhof lies in the idyllic Austrian Alps between Salzburg and Kitzbьhl. From here you can reach Zell am See in 20 minutes by car. Lofer is anice village with several good restaurants, bars and cafйs. A local treat is a Steak am Stein‘ (to be cooked at the table on a hot stone- enjoy your cooking -is what the waiter will tell you).

 

THE APARTMENTS

The resortis an old castle built in the 14th century. The resort has four levels with access for the handicaped. Guests are only allowed to the first floor. The oldest part of the castle dates back as far as the year 1325. The King of Bavaria called this resort his own and often spent time here. In the meantime the castle has been altered into luxurious apartments which are all furnished with antiques, some even have four poster beds and have ceiling paintings. Tennis Courts and sundecks for relaxation are situated in the grounds. In the winter Lofer is the preferred starting point for skiers, and in the summer it is the ideal starting point for trips to the lakes or into the mountains. The views from the apartments spread wide over the splendid scenery of the Alps.

DIRECTIONS

From Salzburg take the quickest route via Germany, the old border posts at Bad Reichenhall and at Steinpass are well signposted. Take the B312 and you will soon reach Lofer. On leaving Lofer (after the petrol station and the tourist office) the road splits, please follow in the direction Zell Am See. After approximately 700 meters you arrive at Martin bei Lofer please turn left immediately after the sign indicating the town’s name – this leads to a little wood and a drive, go in through the gates and a gravel drive leads you directly to the main entrance
