THE AREA
Located in the firth of Clyde, between the lowland county of Ayrshire and the Mull of Kintyre on the Atlantic West Coast makes it the most southerly, the most accessible and most temperate of Scotland's Highland Islands. Visitors can enjoy a full range of outdoor pursuits, including golf on one of the island's seven courses. The less energetic can enjoy many other activities such as a visit to Brodick Castle, the Isle of Arran Distillery or simply browsing in the host of local craft and industry shops. The wildlife is equally rich, with Stags roaming the glens in the autumn months and dewy eyed seals bobbing like corks in the islands bays and inlets. The golden eagle and the ptarmigan still inhabit the hills of the island, together with many other bird species, which thrive in the natural Arran environment. There is lots for the family on the Isle of Arran. Why not try tennis, bowling, putting, pony trekking, cycling, mini golf, a visit to south bank farm park, the adventure playground at Brodick Castle, or a relaxing day on one of Arran’s beautiful beaches.
